for an inspiring day full of education, support and motivation for family caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia. is forum will include educational workshops, information on local resources and support services, and comfort from others in similar situations. Attendees will be provided with lunch and have the opportunity to win a door raffle. ere is a $15 non-refundable registration fee.

Opening Session
The Basics – Erica Salamida, Alzheimer’s Association of NENY
is workshop provides a clear de nition of Alzheimer’s and dementia, identi es the stages, and o ers strategies for caregiving throughout the disease progression. Workshop participants will learn to manage the daily challenges presented by Alzheimer’s, as well as gain knowledge of what to expect as the disease progresses.

Legal and Financial Planning for Alzheimer’s Disease Del B Salmon, Esq.
In this interactive program participants will learn about the important legal and financial issues to consider, how to put plans in place , and how to access legal and financial resources near you.
Workshop 2
Practical Techniques for Meaningful Engagement Molly McCann, Alzheimer’s Association of NENY
Engaging a loved one is incredibly important throughout the disease process. Using meaningful engagement techniques will allow your loved one to feel purposeful and stimulated at the same time. is workshop will discuss how practical yet therapeutic activities can be incorporated in daily routine and adapted throughout the day. is simple approach can help the caregiver to see that there are many opportunities throughout the day to use engagement to promote a better quality of life for those affected by the disease.
Workshop 3
Community Services Available to You
is interactive panel discussion will provide attendees with an overview of community resources available within your region. Participants will hear two scenarios involving a caregiver and their loved one with dementia. They will explore the challenges faced along their journey and how they utilized available community services to help enhance quality of life.
The Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York provides information and referrals, support groups, care consultations, education, and safety services and engagement programs to those affected by the disease, and raises funds to support these efforts, as well as research for treatments, prevention and eventually a cure.
